My practice focuses on helping adults and children address issues that are hindering their development or compromising their own wellbeing or relationships with others. Within a safe, genuine partnership, we will explore your concerns, find new approaches to replace patterns that aren't working, and collaborate in the process of healing and growth.

My Approach
Therapy is based in relationship. My approach is to listen and provide space for you to be yourself, reflect and explore. We will talk about your concerns and develop goals for therapy. Our work together should strengthen your (or your child's) capacity to navigate challenges and to experience yourself in a new, more fulfilling way.

I integrate various treatment approaches, depending upon the individual and presenting concern.

For Adults
You may be experiencing the stress of a life transition or struggling with problems related to relationships, career, aging, or caring for another. You may be trying to cope with loss, illness, anxiety or depression. If you are divorced or separated, you may need help in co-parenting, to communicate and cooperate for your child's benefit. Whatever you are facing at this moment in your life, therapy that is both supportive and goal-oriented will help you make meaningful change and discover a new sense of wellbeing.

For Children
Many children experience difficulty at home or school at one point or another. This may be the result of a painful transition, such as divorce, a move, the birth of a sibling, or the death of a family member. It could be a response to a traumatic experience, a loss of self-confidence, a change in peer relationships or stress related to academic performance. Therapy in the form of play, talk and art can make a pivotal difference for children at all stages of development by helping them express their feelings, make meaning of their experience, and develop skills to solve problems and regulate their behavior.

Childhood can be overwhelming to parents as well as children. Meetings with parents to assess progress, discuss parenting approaches and deal with bumps along the way will be scheduled regularly in order to make lasting changes.


I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT # 94677) in California and a National Certified Counselor (# 259968). I earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Boulder at the community mental health center and as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant. Earlier in my life, I earned an MBA, enjoyed a career in business, and raised a family.

In California, I currently counsel children, families and adults in my private practice in Walnut Creek and Antioch. I am also a therapist at Child Therapy Institute. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the National Board of Certified Counselors.

In addition to my professional and academic credentials, I have postgraduate training in Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Attachment Focused Family Therapy. I have facilitated caregiver support groups for the Alzheimer's Association and assisted families in the court system as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

My work with individuals and families is informed by my experience as a mother and stepmother, as well as by my role as a caregiver in my parents' later years.

I accept cash or check. Payment is due at time of appointment. I do not accept insurance at this time, but offer a sliding scale fee, based on income and circumstances.

In order to get the most out of therapy, it's important to have a consistent schedule. If it's necessary to cancel an appointment, I request at least 24 hours notice.
